Feeding materials will be supplied time to time by this existing strayfeeder, or, into the time that he will be absent, by his friend.

Existing strayfeeder will remain contactable. Replacing strayfeeder will be able to contact his friend, in times of emergency.

From now until his departure, he will orientate replacing strayfeeder and guide him/her along with the job. Work estimated to be half to one hour each morning. She better make up to me by buying more of my favourite ba kua and bringing me out more often to the dog run.

Do ya miss me?

Photos gala time after a long disappearance!
At home:

More to come once jie jie updates the picture archives. I bet jie jie feels that way too. Cai cai do agree in a certain extend that my nerves got over me and I over reacted in a situation. Am glad jie jie understands me and see that my 出发点 is good.

Anyway, jie jie is deciding to send cai cai to obedience school for some behavioural correction. Man.... is it that serious? I'm not sure how this school thing works. If you have been following cai's dlog, you will read that cai cai has got this thing called fear aggression or cai cai tend to get nervous easily.

Okay, this was what happened. The other day, jie jie brought cai cai over to a chalet and cai cai got along well with the kids. I really love them especially little Ray. Thus cai cai took it in my stride to watch over them, especially little Ray. Then this strange big man came over and played along while carrying Ray. Cai cai can smell unfriendly people. He knows this big man must be one of that kind, so cai cai was exceptionally suspicious and wary of him. And suddenly, this unfriendly man made a movement to hit little Ray. Cai had no time to think at all, I started to bark and growl at him fiercely while showing my perfect white teeth.

It was not cai cai's fault that my teeth looked scary or that his arm brushed against them in a wild attempt to fend me off. I is mad! How dare he try to hit baby Ray! ROAARR!!! Well, I really dun understand humans at this point. Jie jie tried to stop me from barking at this horrid guy when he is up to no good. And he started to yell that I bit him! Excuse me??? Jie jie was sure that there wasn't any teeth mark and he started accusing me of trying to attack little Ray??? Man... cai cai felt so injusticed at that point man.

While jie jie chastised me for being so reckless and overly suspicious, I can tell that she was defending for me at the same time. I is confused. Is this behaviour wrong? In jie jie's opinion, I reacted wrongly to a situation which didnt derive from being a bad boy. Aiya... I just hope school is fun for now. Am keeping my fingers crossed.

Ma Li Mo

I wanna tell jie jie that cai loves her and family before my time comes!

Pet Movers & ALL

Cai finally visited Pet Movers! I saw the swimming drainage!!!! I must say I is a scardy cat.... I approach everything with my tail hung down. Am glad jie jie din decide to throw me into that pool. Would have wished that jie jie let me stay in the open field longer but she was much more busy giving away cai's kibbles to the next door neighbours.

Though Aunt Anita was a very nice lady, Cai must admit that cai got pretty annoyed that jie jie kept talking to her cos the rest were having fun still at the run. And boy did cai did voice it out vocally. With that killer look in her eyes, jie warned me that she will not take me there anymore should I behave in that not socially accepted behaviour. *whin... Cai is but a spoiled brat ma... I'm just behaving the way I'm supposed to be.

I hope the next time, jie jie will just let me go in the run while she help the neighbours if she likes. Sad to say.... Cai cai cannot recall how mama looks like le. She's worried that I'm a product of a puppy mill after reading horrid articles written on petshop puppies.

I remembered the time I was alone and afraid in that petshop. I saw mei mei got adopted by a middle age couple. I wonder how she's doing now cos according to jie jie that couple seemed to be buying her on impulse and not informed about taking care of one. In fact, jie jie's initial intention was to buy mei mei but that couple was one step ahead. I did not get to kiss mei mei, but am grateful that jie jie helped me stroke and hug, whispering to mei mei to be xing fu one last time before she left for a new life. After they left, jie jie started to decide if she should get cai cai. She has long saw cai cai's antics through that petshop window. Cai cai was a playful pup (still is now) that was practically chewing up the toys that were presented to him but when taken out for viewing, he gets into a shivering fit.

To jie jie, cai cai was then a ke lian orphan with no papa mama when he was alone in the small coop up pet shop cage. These days, jie jie will craddle me in her arms and tell cai how fortunate that she has me and that I'm is no longer an orphan cos I've got her as well. She will be my mama and I will never be alone again. Life can be quite uninteresting at times, so some of my cutie friends decided to play this tag game.

The rules of the games are

The player of this game starts with "5 weird things/habits about him/herself." Then he/she tags 5 friends and list their names. The furries who get tagged need to write on their blogs about their 5 weird things/habits, as well as state this rule clearly, then tag 5 more victims. And the one who tags need to leave his/her victim a comment that says "you're tagged!" in their comments and tell them to read your blog.

Hm... cai's starting to think hard what weird habits me have.

I dance like a lion at times when I dun wanna eat my kibbles

Smell my own fart

Will always mistake things blown by the wind to be aliens and hence proceed with caution towards them

Will lie down whenever it's grooming time

Will pull at jie jie's jeans whenever she starts wearing them

Muahahaha... So far so good though I kinda hate eating the same stuff everyday. But good food is normally not tasteful huh. Anyway, Jie Jie found an interesting post to aid furball mamas and papas on what to look out when choosing the right kibbles for all fidos like me!

Link

Ingredients which automatically rule out a food.
If these are anywhere in the ingredients list, put it down and look for something else.

A non-meat first ingredient is an automatic no go.

Meat by-products: By-products can vary ... they can consist of the internal parts of animals such as necks, heads, undeveloped eggs, feet, intestines, lungs, spleen and liver. Although by-products are used by many manufacturers, are these ingredients you would knowingly feed your pet?

Corn: Corn products are difficult for dogs to digest.

Food Fragments: Lower cost by-products of another food manufacturing process. Examples include wheat bran and brewer's rice (a waste product of the alcohol industry).

Meat and bone meal: "Meat and bone meal" and "beef and bone meal" are inexpensive sources of animal protein. The protein in a meal containing a large amount of bone may be poorly digestible and fail to provide adequate nutrition.

Animal Fat: Animal fat is a "generic" fat source that is most often made up of rendered animal fat, restaurant grease, or other oils too rancid or deemed inedible for humans. Look for a named fat source, such as poultry or chicken fat, that is naturally preserved.

Chemical Preservatives: Chemical preservatives include butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), propyl gallate, propylene glycol (also used as a less-toxic version of automotive antifreeze), and ethoxyquin. BHA, BHT, and ethoxyquin are potentially cancer-causing agents. The long term build-up of these chemicals (that may be eaten every day for the life of your pet!) have not been thouroughly studied and may ultimately be harmful.

Sweeteners: Sweeteners such as corn syrup, sugar, and cane mallases are usually added to lower quality foods to increase their appeal. Dietary sugars can aggrevate health problems, including diabetes.

Beef Tallow A low quality fat product.

SugarThis is not an ingredient most people would expect to find in dog food, but many foods do, in fact, contain sugar, especially the semi-moist brands. In fact, some semi-moist foods contain as much as 15% sugar. The sugar adds palatability and moisture, and aids in bacterial contamination prevention. Dogs do not need this amount of sugar, which can stress the pancreas and adrenal glands, causing diabetes. Completely devoid of protein, vitamins and minerals, sugar is, literally, empty calories.

Food colorings These still commonly used in pet foods today despite the fact that they are not necessary and some have been linked to medical problems

Stuff to look for

Rice A combination of brown and white rice. The white rice for digestibility and the brown for its added nutritional value. A diet product that is 100% brown rice can be somewhat hard for some animals to digest. Rice is good, corn is not.

Meat vs Meal Pet food labels found in grocery and mass marketers like to use Chicken or Lamb to represent real meat. – (Contains 70% moisture). This leads you the consumer to believe that their product is meat based. Chicken or lamb meats are heavier than grains prior to cooking. The moisture contained in the meats (70%) is reduced by 2/3rds after the cooking process, leaving the total formula as a grain base food after processing. Therefore, pound for pound, meal is better than meat as its basically a concentrated form of meat, less water, more protein!

Wheat Wheat is ok, as long as its not in the top 3 ingredients

Other Ingredients and what they are for

Chicken Fat (Omega 6) Essential fatty acids, maintains moisture in skin cells and is easily digested.

Fish Meal (Omega 3) Essential fatty acids, controls skin inflammation, helps relieve itching & hot spots.

Flax Seed (Omega 3) Essential fatty acids, helps reduce allergy problems caused from flea bites and gives the coat a shiny luster.

Sunflower Oil (Omega 6) Essential fatty acids, prevents scruffy, dry coat and maintains moisture in skin cells.

Lecithin Helps emulsify cholesterol and aids in the digestion and absorption of fats that feed the coat.

Linoleic Acid (Omega 6) Essential fatty acids, helps to prevent moisture loss from cells that cause flaky, dry skin and coat.

Sage Strengthens the mind and concentrating abilities; it aids in healing skin sores and skin eruptions and removing dandruff. A small amount of copper will improve utilization of iron..

Beet Pulp (Sugar) CONTROVERSIAL
• AAFCO - Beet Pulp is the dried residue from sugar beets which has been cleaned and extracted in the process of manufacturing sugar.
• Natura uses it because - "it as a good source of fiber and a stool hardener". However, it is not found in their Innova or California Natural products.
• Solid Gold doesn't use it because they believe it is: "Added to pet food to slow down the transition of rancid animal fats (think toxic waste). This holds the waste in. Kidneys and liver work overtime. Dogs may chew their lower backs. Feet may swell, so the dogs lick their feet. Sugar is a contributing factor to ear infections and cataracts".
Beet pulp is rather controversial, many think that it is an excellent additive and source of fiber and that all sugar has been completely extracted before being added as a pet food ingredients. If this is the only "problem" ingredient in a kibble, other factors will have to help you decide.

Brewers Rice
• AAFCO - Brewer's Rice is the small milled fragments of rice kernels that have been separated from the larger kernels of milled rice.
• Natura will not use it because they state it is a "lower quality rice product that is missing many of the nutrients found in Ground Rice and Ground Brown Rice." Solid Gold says that is the sweepings from the floor of the mill.

Rice Bran
• AAFCO - Rice Bran is the outer coating of the rice kernel, with little or none of the starchy part of the germ.
• Natura and Solid Gold reject it because it is "an inexpensive source of fiber that is considered a filler ingredient", i.e. devoid of nutrient value.

Sorghum
• AAFCO - Sorghum is the ground grain of the sorghum plant.
• Natura alleges that although sorghum is good source of carbohydrates, it is low in digestibility.

Side Note
Condemned parts and animals rejected for human consumption can be rerouted into commercial pet foods. These condemned parts are referred to as the 4 D's: dead, dying, diseased or decayed. We believe this is one of the most despicable practices in the pet food manufacturing industry.
Some manufacturers have a lower standard regarding the quality of ingredients they use to make pet food. A recent example of this practice is the discovery of Pentobarbital in major pet foods, including supermarket brands. Pentobarbital is a chemical used to euthanize animals. Many holistic veterinarians feel that daily ingestion of pentobarbital can be harmful.
Many manufacturers cut costs by using the cheapest ingredients available at the time a food is made. Since costs rise and fall, some manufacturers will vary ingredients from batch to batch .. resulting in changed nutrient values for each batch and possible digestive illness.
Some manufacturers have lower standards regarding the freshness of ingredients they use to make pet food. You can not determine the freshness of ingredients by reading a label; you must trust the pet food manufacturer.

Now I know you are still asking “is this food good”, so here is the basic lists with the research done for you (tsk tsk!)

The Good
When you want the best money can buy….
ADVANCE
BALANCE DIET
The Food ADVANTAGE
CANINE CAVIAR PET FOODS
Cripple Creek Kennels
Natural Balance
FLINT RIVER RANCH
HAPPY PAWS
HOLISTIC BLEND
SOLID GOLD
LIFE'S ABUNDANCE
TENDER LOVING CARE
NATURE'S FINEST
MATRIX
OLD MOTHER HUBBARD
Sammy Snacks
TIMBERWOLF ORGANICS
ULTRA NATURAL PET FOODS
VeRUS Pet Foods
VITA-MAX PET FOODS
AZMIRA PET FOODS
BREEDERS CHOICE
CALIFORNIA NATURAL
INNOVA CANINE
PINNACLE
ROYAL CANIN SIZE (natural blend variety)
NATURALLY CANADIAN
CANIDAE PET
KIRKLAND (KIBBLE)
Far More
NATURAL BLEND

Help these poor things...

Now that Avril has shared her side of her view. She's making me go through this torturous routine every evening.

Firstly, she would wheel out this huge table into the living room and drop me onto it. Then out appears a big bowl of ice water! Slurpz! Cai's favourite is iced-water lor.

But hell!!!!

Jie jie's not letting me have it at all! Instead, she uses a cloth soaked inside to wipe cai cai's paws! Sometimes it stings and sometimes the coldness really gets to me. I wonder why she's been at this for a week.

Then comes the part where she will apply some nice smelling cream on cai cai's paws. I feel so very much like licking them. But she's always scolding me when I do so. So I try to hide away to lick me paws.

Next will be the usual combing, teeth brushing, ear cleaning at times.. blah blah blah.
All these tasks just takes so much of my play and sleep time away lor. Cai Cai wants to go out more instead. But Jie Jie keep telling me cos of the rain and plus cai cai's injured paws, I cant go down to the grass. You expect that few drops of remedy to turn me into someone else??? Oh please... I've got character k. I admit that I enjoy behaving like a spoilt brat most of the times and take advantages of gor gor jie jies' weaknesses for my cute antics. I'm still afterall very affectionate to them what. WOOF! *Do a few quick turns*

Just that day, jie jie took off to buy another 2 more bottles of Bach for me!!!! She's sure one kiasu lady. So now, I am getting 4 drops altogether every morning and evening. I overheard her telling auntie that I'm taking Beech, Mimulus, Vine and Water Violet. This is a different situation from soldiering on despite pain or illness, like the hound whose heart was tested at a regular session and found to be in such a bad state that it was amazing she could walk, yet she was the coursing champion. That is Oak, but the Agrimony case is the bitch which fell down a cattlegrid and tore her hind legs to ribbons but appeared happy and was wagging her tail and ready to eat before anyone had even noticed the damage. It can be difficult to differentiate between Agrimony and Oak but Agrimony has a lot of torment , restlessness, and worry which is covered up by cheerfulness, and an Agrimony personality will always avoid battles and arguments. Oak personalities are fighters and struggle on no matter what, but are not cheerful and bright about it.

For the dog that is restless, either pacing back and forth, or wandering about, or restless in sleep. It cannot settle: lies down but then is up and wandering about again. For dogs that are anxious to please; for sensitive dogs that are upset by humans arguing or shouting. For dogs that are tearing themselves to pieces with skin irritation; the dog that chews its feet down to the bone, that is frantically chewing or tearing at itself. For the dog that is neurotic from abuse. The virtue of Agrimony is peace of mind.

ASPEN

This is the remedy for unknown fears, insecurity, and phobias. For dogs that are jumpy and nervous but with no obvious focus for their fears. For dogs that won’t leave the house or refuse to go into a certain area or building. The dog that stares nervously into a corner or appears to “see” something when there is nothing to be seen. Anxious anticipation, anxiety, inability to go anywhere alone. Avoidance behaviour. Dogs that have always been fearful and jumpy. For the physical conditions that go with fear and anxiety - uncontrollable urination, trembling, diarrhoea, circulatory disorders, etc. The virtue of Aspen is fearlessness.

BEECH

This remedy is for intolerance; physical as well as mental and emotional. So, the dog that suffers allergies to foods or environmental allergens such as pollens; or is intolerant of weather conditions such as heat or cold, as well as the dog that is intolerant of change. Always wants everything kept just the same; doesn’t like changes of food, toys, or routine. Won’t accept another animal (or human) joining the household. Oversensitive to sounds and touch; irritable behaviour, always complaining. Snappy and irritable. Dogs that are stiff and can’t relax and that develop arthritis or other joint disorders. The dog that is fussy about food, eating something one day but refusing it the next, having its person cooking up gourmet meals which it then refuses. The virtue of Beech is sympathy and tolerance.

CENTAURY

For the dog that is bullied; that is attacked with no warning by other dogs when out on a walk. The dog in a multi-dog household that is down the bottom of the pack heirarchy and always left out and beaten up. For the suckling puppy that is pushed out by its littermates and cannot get enough milk. For dogs that are so insecure they shadow their person and are for ever trying to lick them and press up against them, or gaze at them adoringly. The dog that hasn’t grown out of puppy submissiveness, and dogs that urinate when greeting either a person or another dog. For dogs that seem to have weak immune systems, that are always going down with some infection or are plagued by parasites. Dogs that have become exhausted, or are weak following an illness. Give to any weak puppies in a litter and to the dam if she is exhausted by whelping. For sick dogs that seem to have lost the will to live. The virtue of Centaury is self-determination and self-realisation.

CERATO

For lack of confidence, approval seeking, easily distracted, difficult to train. For dogs that cannot seem to concentrate on what they are doing, that cannot do a stay when the owner is out of sight; does not seem to take anything in. For dogs lacking in confidence in general, not just lacking confidence over one specific thing, which is LARCH. Dogs which don’t know their place in the pack; dogs which are always looking to others for information as to what they should be doing or how they should be behaving; dogs that copy others’ behaviour. For dogs that cannot relate to other dogs. For dogs with ailments that are difficult to pinpoint and which don’t seem to respond to treatment. The virtue of Cerato is inner certainty.

CHERRY PLUM

For uncontrollable behaviour: dogs that become vicious, or which wreck the house or frantically tear their bedding or toys apart, or tear at themselves with uncontrollable chewing , scratching, and licking. Dogs that go berserk or into a total frenzy or panic. For rage syndrome. For bitches that attack their puppies. For epilepsy and epileptiform fits. For incontinence, or other loss of control of bodily functions. For the dog that urinates when excited. For the dog that chases its own tail. Becoming hysterical; total terror. The virtue of Cherry Plum is openness and composure.

CHESTNUT BUD

For breaking bad habits such as chewing , chasing, jumping up, digging holes. For housebreaking; to change unwanted behaviour instilled by previous owners/trainer. Treatment with the remedy does need to be coupled with re-training. For repetitive behaviour of any kind; for accident- prone animals. For infections and illnesses that keep recurring and don’t seem to respond to other treatment.

CHICORY

For dogs that are always attention seeking, won’t leave their person alone, won’t allow any others to have attention. For the insecure dog that follows its person everywhere, even into the bathroom. For the dog that won’t be left alone; that howls or barks or tears the house or itself to pieces if left. Dogs whose guarding instinct is excessive. Dogs that will do anything to attract attention; those that sulk when they don’t get their own way. Dogs that demand to be fed or taken for a walk. For the bitch that won’t let go of her puppies, that won’t wean them and continues treating them as if they are helpless, cleaning them up and nursing them. In cases of repetitive behaviour, Chicory may be combined with White Chestnut.

CLEMATIS

For inattentive dogs that can’t concentrate; for dogs that appear dreamy or “spaced out”. For collapse from any cause. For shock when the body is cold to the touch. For loss of consciousness. After surgery to speed recovery. For elderly dogs that appear senile. When a bitch does not care for her young after whelping but seems not to know what is going on and appears disoriented. To help dogs learn in training sessions (combine with Chestnut Bud if they seem unable to grasp what is wanted).

CRAB APPLE

The cleanser. For application to any skin problem, wounds, and abrasions. For motion sickness. For hormone imbalances, such as odd seasons, false pregnances, behavioural changes with or approaching a season. For dogs that have problems with balance; dogs that are clumsy and don’t seem to know what their legs are doing. For dogs that seem confused, disoriented, dithery. This can often happen following seizures, and in older dogs who appear almost senile. For dogs of uncertain temperament, which change suddenly from being loving to snappy; withdrawn to outgoing; ravenous at one time and then not wanting to eat.

As an example, one wolfhound bitch had a chronic sore under the right nostril, her teeth on the right were very dirty while those on the left were clean, her right ear had a chronic waxy discharge while the left was clean, when she strained a muscle it was always in the right leg, and she developed mammary tumours all along the right side. Scleranthus restores balance.

STAR OF BETHLEHEM

This is the trauma remedy, and for shock of any kind. Give following accidents or any trauma or shock. Star of Bethlehem is one of the essences in RESCUE REMEDY (which see). Give Rescue Remedy immediately following the trauma, at very frequent intervals for a day, and then go on to Star of Bethlehem, with any other applicable remedies, as a longer term treatment. For grief, however far into the past the loss was. This is the case for treating trauma also; even if it was years ago. Dogs which have been subjected to cruelty, neglect, starvation. Rescued strays and dogs that have been abandoned. Birthing trauma. Any illness originally triggered by trauma or shock. For the damage to tissues caused by poisoning. For any dog that aggressively guards its territory, toys, food, won’t allow its person to get it off a chair or to take something away from it. Dogs that won’t accept other animals and are aggressive towards them. Vine is for dominance aggression, not fear aggression (that’s Mimulus), and the two need to be differentiated. Many dogs that are called dominant are, in fact, fearful. Dominant aggressive dogs are more likely to be confronting in their behaviour, while fearful dogs will only be aggressive when they feel cornered. It should be borne in mind that many cases of aggression in dogs are due to thyroid dysfunction (which see). The virtue of Vine is leadership (dominance is the failing - the opposite end of the scale), so it is worth giving Vine to the show dog to give it the ability to stand out and demand attention.

WALNUT

For any difficulties in adapting to change of any kind. This may include house moves, changes in the family (new baby, departing older children/spouse, etc.), changes in meal times or exercise periods, the humans becoming ill and everything in the household changing to accomodate them, and so on. But it may also include changing periods in the dog’s life - such as weaning, teething, a bitch coming into season, pregnancy, being neutered, etc. Any dog that has had a change of home, or is put into kennels, or has to go on a long journey or be exported, is being hospitalised, needs to become accustomed to a crate, or a show bench, or any other change. Prior to anaesthesia, and when a dog loses a limb or an eye or its sight. Prior to euthanasia. For any condition brought on by change - such as some allergic skin conditions, digestive upsets, and so on. Walnut protects against outside influences such as pollen, housedust, and other allergens, as well as things such as thunderstorms.

WATER VIOLET

The dog that wants to be alone, especially when ill. The dog that won’t integrate into the pack but is always hanging around on the outside. Water Violet remedies grief over the loss of a master, companion, puppy. It also remedies loneliness for the dog left to its own devices for long periods, or confined to a kennel on its own. For dogs that were not socialised properly as puppies and have difficulty now in relating to people or other animals. For the removal of foreign bodies such as thorns, splinters from the skin (give with Crab Apple). The virtue of Water Violet is joy.

WHITE CHESTNUT

For restlessness, preoccupation, sleeplessness. The dog that is aimless and apathetic through boredom and having no direction for its energies. For dogs whose potential never seems to be realised.

WILD ROSE

For dogs that seem to have lost their spirit; for older dogs that do not welcome the attentions of youngsters wanting them to play; dogs that are confined in a small area; abandoned dogs in shelters or kennels; for dogs that seem to have no enjoyment in life, which seem apathetic, bored and sad. Lacking energy, not wanting to move; a total disinterest in food but with no apparent reason for lack of appetite. For hypothyroidism (given with Crab Apple and Elm)

WILLOW

For resentment. For dogs with problems following surgery of any kind, such as incontinence following spaying; inappropriate urination/defaecation in the house, or destruction of property. Dogs that seem to resent a companion and take every opportunity to try and start a fight; or won’t take to a new baby/spouse/ partner/animal introduced into the household. For disorders where there is an excretion of mucus or pus, such as rhinitis, bed sores, some forms of colitis. For arthritis.

RESCUE REMEDY

This combines Clematis, Cherry Plum, Impatiens, Rock Rose, and Star of Bethlehem. It remedies shock, stress, tension, distress and restores calm and relaxation. It can be used alongside any other treatment for any crisis such as an accident, surgery, or any trauma whether physical, mental or emotional. It can be used to revive newborn pups, and to treat puppies born by Caesarean Section, which are usually very stressed and constantly wailing. It can be used for resuscitation; after convulsions; to revive dogs slow to recover from anaesthesia; in cases of heatstroke and exhaustion; to help wounds heal; to spray on itchy, damaged skin to reduce the itchiness and soreness; to treat any kind of emergency; to calm dogs which are worried by going in the showring, or by shiny floor surfaces, or going to the vet.

Dosage can be every few minutes; it is impossible to overdose or to do harm. It can be applied topically as well as orally and the liquid can be rubbed into the gums, lips, skin of unconscious dogs. It is also known as Emergency Essence and Five Flower Remedy, depending on which company makes it.

Call me Fa Cai

My name's cai cai.
